Club History

An Incorporated Club Entity
“The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Social Club, Inc.”

A.K.A. “The Club” or “The Friendly Sons”

The entity incorporated in 1946 in the state of Michigan titled “The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Social Club, Inc.” is a Michigan social club incorporated entity created for the purpose of carrying on the Irish-American traditions of a much older Pennsylvania entity titled “The National Society of The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick”.

These ties are summarized as:

“The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Social Club Inc.”, founded in 1946, is a local community, independent extension of “The National Society of The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick” an Irish-American organization dedicated to preserve the principles of brotherhood, charity and community service. Since the founding in 1771, the society has maintained a tradition of openness to Irish as well as non-Irish men of goodwill, without regard to ethnic or religious origin.

The Club is an Irish-American cultural institution in terms of our constitution, our message about Ireland and by the actions of our membership. Irish ethnicity requirements remain a factor of our general membership definitions per the legal incorporated constitution and bylaws document on record. This specific requirement has been more liberally interpreted and enforced with equal context based on a prospective member’s character, interest in Irish-American traditions and the Clubs common goals.

Target market for this Michigan entity is defined as:

Irish as well as non-Irish men of goodwill, without regard to ethnic or religious origin that share our wish to uphold the principles of brotherhood, charity and community service.
